'Spitfire' Firefighter Dies of Injuries in VA Engine Crash

A Virginia firefighter injured in an apparatus crash in July has died.

Louisa County Firefighter/EMT Mia Ethridge, 20, was ejected from the engine she was riding in after it hit a tree. She was wearing a seat belt. 

Fellow firefighters at her volunteer company -- Stafford Volunteer Fire Department -- as well as Louisa County crews were by her side as she remained hospitalized, according to WUSA9.

She had been in the fire service for less than a year.
